The purpose of this workshop was to evaluate different means of collecting friction data from a wide range of both stationary and mobile friction and texture measurement devices. Measurements were taken from two different venues including The Larson Institute for Transportation Safety Test Track Facility as well as University Park Airport on various types of pavements and surface treatments. Both venues are operated by Penn State in State College PA.  Josh Jones, Transportation Market Manager of Blastrac provided a demonstration using a 2-4800 ride-on shot blaster at both locations and gave a total of five different levels of abrasion treatment to be measured by the various friction measurement devices.
